The Forbearance Report is a collaborative effort by career mortgage, real estate, and consumer protection professionals and advocates whose mission is to educate and empower homeowners with the ability to understand and protect your rights while making informed decisions about your home.

The oncoming tidal-wave of forbearance requests, and soon, mortgage workout requests are going to flood servicers over the upcoming months and years.  When we look at the sheer volume of forbearances that have been granted, and when you consider the impacted timeframe, this crisis spells trouble for servicers as they scramble to staff loss mitigation departments to handle the calls.

While we do trust that your servicer will do their absolute best to hire and train this staff as quickly and effectively as possible, the opportunity for miscommunication or misunderstanding by the time contact is made by the consumer is very high.  If we learned anything after the 2008 crash, it's that loss mitigation work is a tough business, and turn over is high.
